 Tragedy in Kupwara: Two Soldiers Martyred, Two Injured After Army Vehicle Plunges Into Deep Gorge

Kupwara 06 May 2025 (APN) :In a heartbreaking incident from the border district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, two brave Indian Army soldiers lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries after their vehicle skidded off a mountainous road and fell into a deep gorge. The mishap occurred while the soldiers were on a routine patrol in the treacherous terrain near the Line of Control (LoC).

According to official sources, the vehicle veered off the narrow, slippery road—likely due to poor visibility and difficult road conditions—before tumbling into the steep gorge. Rescue operations were launched swiftly, and the injured soldiers were airlifted to a nearby military hospital for immediate medical attention.

This incident underlines the extreme risks faced by army personnel not only during combat but also in routine duties, especially in high-altitude and weather-prone regions like Kupwara. The Indian Army has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of its personnel and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

The names of the deceased soldiers are expected to be released following formal identification and notification to their families. An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident.
