In a proactive initiative aimed at reinforcing emergency preparedness and safeguarding lives, the Srinagar Police, in close coordination with the Tourist Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), carried out a high-impact mock drill today on the iconic Dal Lake. The exercise simulated real-time emergency situations such as boat capsizing and drowning incidents, which are critical concerns in this high-traffic tourist zone.

The drill was meticulously planned to assess and enhance the coordination, speed, and efficiency of rescue operations during water-related emergencies. Equipped with life-saving tools, boats, and specialized diving equipment, teams demonstrated synchronized efforts in search, rescue, and first-response protocols. The scenario-based training also tested the capabilities of teams in high-pressure conditions, ensuring swift and accurate deployment in potential real-life situations.

Senior officers, including the SSP Enforcement, SP Zone East Srinagar, SP HQ Srinagar, DySP HQ Srinagar, and DySP SDRF, were present at the scene to evaluate operational efficiency, oversee the coordination among units, and provide strategic input to further improve response frameworks.

A significant aspect of the drill was the emphasis on inter-agency collaboration and the streamlining of communication channels between the police, tourism units, and disaster response teams. Officials highlighted that such drills not only enhance operational readiness but also serve as a confidence-building measure for both locals and tourists visiting the region.

Additionally, the SDRF has intensified efforts toward capacity building and has fortified logistical infrastructure, ensuring a rapid response to future contingencies on and around water bodies in the Kashmir Valley.

This drill stands as a testament to the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s commitment to prioritizing public safety, especially in key tourist zones. It reinforces a culture of vigilance, preparedness, and resilience, crucial for a region that sees thousands of visitors and faces dynamic natural challenges.
