 Tragic Lightning Strike Claims Life in Gunsaigam, Kulgam

Gunsaigam, Kulgam – May 2, 2025A tragic and heart-wrenching incident struck the peaceful village of Gunsaigam in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday afternoon when a man lost his life due to a lightning strike triggered by a sudden thunderstorm.

The victim, identified as Tariq Ahmad Padder, son of Mohammad Shaban Padder, was a local resident and known in his community for his simple and hardworking nature. According to eyewitnesses and initial reports, Tariq had gone out for daily chores when the skies, which had been gloomy throughout the morning, suddenly erupted into a thunderstorm around 2:00 PM. Within moments, a bolt of lightning struck the area he was in, hitting him directly.

Locals rushed to his aid and immediately transported him to the nearest healthcare facility. However, upon arrival, doctors declared him brought dead. The news of his sudden and unexpected death has sent shockwaves throughout the village, plunging the tight-knit community into mourning.
