Classwork Suspended in All Schools Across J&K on Friday
KU, IUST Also Announce Suspension of Classes

Srinagar | May 08, 2025: In view of the prevailing situation, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced the suspension of classwork in all government and private schools up to the 12th standard across the Union Territory on Friday, May 09, 2025.
The decision, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students, was confirmed by the Hon'ble Minister of Education, Sakina Itoo, during an interaction with Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
> “Keeping in view the safety of students, classwork in schools up to the 12th standard shall remain suspended on Friday,” the Minister stated.
In addition, the University of Kashmir (KU) and the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have also announced the suspension of classwork for the same day. The Registrar of KU confirmed this measure and assured that students will be promptly notified of any further updates.
The Government urges students and parents to stay informed through official channels for any new announcements.
