 Youth Dies, Another Injured in Electrocution Incident in Kupwara

Kupwara, May 7 (APN): In a tragic incident, a youth lost his life and another was severely injured due to electrocution in the Shundi Thayan Kalaroos area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday evening.


According to reports reaching Kashmir Bulletin (KB), the two individuals were working in the area when they accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire, resulting in a powerful electric shock. The deceased has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Malik, son of Mohammad Shafi Malik.


Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Handwara confirmed the incident, stating that Aijaz was brought to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. "The injuries sustained were critical, and despite efforts, he could not be revived," the official said.


The other person involved in the incident is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital. His condition remains under medical supervision, and doctors are hopeful for a steady recovery.


Local authorities have initiated an investigation to understand the circumstances that led to the electrocution. Community members have expressed grief over the tragic loss of life and called for enhanced safety measures in areas prone to electrical hazards.


This incident has once again raised concerns over electrical safety in rural areas, with residents urging the administration to address potential risks and improve infrastructure to prevent such tragedies in the future.
